THANKS TARGET

 

I want to THANK TARGET for the Grant that the Theater Club received this year! Here is a sneak peek at a few of the things we are excited to have for this performance!

 

We were able to purchase a sound system with 9 headsets and a hand-held microphone ... we were able to use it last week and will be able to practice with it 3 more times before the BIG PERFORMANCE!!! 



We were able to purchase some incredibly COOL

pop up items to use!!! 

                     

 My husband, Steven, was happy to set the whole sound system up for us!

It is amazing!!!!!  

 

 Mr Riehl and a few of his Middle School Art Students are making some COSTUMES for us!!!

Excited about working with many of them again for our Spring Production

ALICE IN WONDERLAND!



Thank you for having your children CONTINUE in our Manara Academy Theater Group!!!  We are hard at work getting ready for our culminating event -- The Pete the Cat PLAYS!!!

IMPORTANT INFO -- The play will take place -- Friday, December 5, in the Middle School Gym -- I'm still working out the details on the time. We hope you can join us!  Also -- there will be no Theater Group in December -- we will meet on December 3, to make sure everything is set for FRIDAY- December 5 (you will NOT have to pay for December 3) ... this is a dress rehearsal to make sure everything is in place.  If your child would like to continue in the Theater Group -- we will begin again in January and will then ask you to commit to JAN, FEB & MARCH so we can work on our BIG play -- Alice In Wonderland -- which will hopefully be held the first week in April.
Thank you to EVERYONE who has gotten cat ears, whiskers, tails and who have brought in SHOES for our Rockin' our School Shoes vignette!!  I appreciate the children's enthusiasm and hard work!
REMINDER - There is NO Theater Group next Wednesday, November 5 because of SLC's.

I'm very excited and HONORED to be heading up the Manara Academy Theater Club for the 2nd year! I had a wonderful time working with the children last year on our two plays -- Chicken Little and then our spring production The Wizard of OZ! 

This year, I wrote a Grant and was awarded $2,000 from TARGET for our Theater Club! We will be able to purchase items to use this year and for the future! If you have the opportunity ... go to Target's web-site and write a quick THANK YOU to their School Grant's programs! 

Theater Club is a wonderful way to have children learn, self expression, reading, singing, & working together as a team. I am blessed to have Mrs. Miller help me this year and also we are VERY LUCKY to have Jude (in 4th grade) interning with us as our official STAGE MANAGER!
If it is possible, please make sure your child signs up for Theater Club in November as well! It takes weeks to put together costumes, the script, sets and to learn our lines and choreography. If your child is not returning in November, they will not be a part of the final production and we will have to re-work the play.  Our fall play will be based on 3 of the Pete the Cat books. The children have already been deciding on parts, different costume and set ideas.  We will NEED your help ....

We do need some things "borrowed" from your child's collection of things .... Blow Up Guitar, Skateboard, Cat Ear Headbands .... if you have some of these things .... please send them in with your child.  I also want to make sure you are all comfortable with the children having whiskers and pink/white noses face painted on .... so they look like CATS! If you are not comfortable with that .... please send me an email! 

Our play will be sometime the week before Thanksgiving Break or the week right after Thanksgiving Break .... I will let you know as soon as I work out those details!

I will also be posting pictures from practices and set making each week on this site! 

Our SPRING play this year will be ALICE IN WONDERLAND!!!!  I hope your child will continue their journey in Theater Club from January - May, 2015 and participate in our Spring Play!!!!!  : )
